Meet my cousin: Bri Tawadros

Hey y’all! My name is Bri Tawadros; I am 20 years old and am a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. This year Mary Kay Cosmetics is celebrating it’s 50-year anniversary.

My Favorite “Must Have” Products:

1. The Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. I LOVEEEE this product. If you only wanted to get one thing… this would be the thing to get!! How many of you have ever gone to sleep with your make up on? Well first of all that ages your eyes 7 days for every 1 night you sleep with your make up on!!! That’s crazy! And if that isn’t incentive enough… everyone has these little things called eye mites that live on your eyelashes. Well these mites feed off of your mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow! So when you’re sleeping with your make up on you’re allowing these creepy crawlies to feast and multiply while you’re asleep. This product is the only product out there that helps target eye mites to keep them from multiplying. Opra gave this away on one of her “Opra’s Favorite Things” episodes and it has won several awards. It’s one of Mary Kay’s top selling products!

2. The Time Wise Anti Aging Miracle Set
This includes a cleanser, a moisturizer and day and night solutions

3. If you have sensitive skin I highly recommend that you use The Botanical Skin Care set. I just switched to using this just so I could see the difference and it really is a very gentle line of products.

4. I love Satin Hands. It really keeps your hands super soft all day long. It lasts through 10 washes and up to 16 hours! Satin Hands comes in a peach sent and non scented (which really doesn’t smell like anything, it has cucumber extracts in it so if anything it resembles cucumbers)

5. I also use Satin Lips. It keeps your lips kissable all day long!! (; One major reason I love this product is because I no longer have to constantly reapply chapstik throughout the day. Satin Lips comes with a lip mask and a lip balm. Your lips are the only part of your body that don’t naturally exfoliate so the mask helps rejuvenate the skin and keeps them soft, longer.

I am wearing the colors Sterling covering my eyelid, Sweet Plumb in the corner, and I went over both of those with Honey Spice. These 3 colors all have shimmer in them. I am wearing Ultimate Mascara in black and Steely colored eyeliner. My eyebrows are done with a Blonde Brow Liner and a Blonde Definer Pencil.

I use Beige 4 Liquid Luminous Foundation as well as Beige 1.5 Mineral Powder Foundation.

I am wearing Red Crème Lipstick.

If you order online...or through Bri directly, then shipping is free! Also, Bri will be hosting giveaways and contests on her facebook page! So check it out!

You can Contact Bri on her Website  or Facebook and by her cellphone number 404-317-7869

Get to know me in 10 questions!

1. if you could do one thing differently in your life, what would it be?
Honestly, I think that I would have listened to my parents when they said not to make impulsive decisions about things. Although I have been incredibly blessed, I also have things I wish that I could've done. But, I was in such a hurry to grow up. Now that I am older...I find myself analyzing more and thinking more before I make decisions.

 2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
5 years from now...i'll be almost 26 years old. So hopefully...married to John :) (hopefully we don't date for 9 years without putting a ring on it *hint* *hint*) and hopefully working the job of my dreams and living in a beautifully decorated house that we will hopefully be preparing for children someday.

 3. Do you honestly want kids?
Well if we're being honest about it...

Yes! Yes! Absolutely Yes! I love children, always have. And I honestly can't wait to share that love and responsibility with the love of my life. However, as much as I can't wait...I know that the time needs to be right...and that I need to live my life a little bit before I settle down because as soon as my baby is born...that's all I want to focus on. I think it is incredibly important to focus on getting to know your spouse and living your lives together before you have children. (lord willing of course)

 4. What has been the best moment of your life so far?
Oh gosh...this is a hard one. There are so many moments in my life that could fall into this classification.

I would say that finding out that all my hard work payed off and that I got accepted into state was a pretty amazing moment for me...and the whole time I have been in college moments like that keep happening.

 5. What is your life theme song?
American Honey:

I feel that I used to be innocent and so in love with life and humanity in general. And over the years...I lost sight of things that I once held dear.

 6. What is one thing you have yet to accomplish that you want to do before you die?
I want to live in a different country, preferably the UK...AND one day own a clothing boutique.

7. If you could choose one thing to be known for, what would it be?
My heart and my willingness to be there for my friends and family.

 8. If you could do anything you wanted right in this very moment (no consequences, no fear, etc.) What would it be?
Quit college and move back home and open up my own boutique or become a makeup artist.

 9. What was the most challenging moment in your life?
Highschool. I had a lot of hurtful things happen to me. That at that time...I didn't care to address. I had people betray me and people taken from me. I watched my dad lose the most influential person in his life, his mom. And I watched my most influential person, my mom, go through a lot of health issues and cancer diagnosis right around the same time.

I don't ever wish any of that upon anyone, but it was something that really helped shape me into the person I am now.

 10. summarize your life in one word

Trifle Cake...mmm mmm good!

This is my first recipe post and let me tell you...it's a good one! I spent less than an hour on this yummy dessert and it was definitely a hit. It is a perfect dessert for spring and summer...lots of fruit and very light on the stomach! You can even choose low fat options for less caloric intake.

1-2 containers of frozen whip ( I used an 8 ounce and a 12 ounce because of the size of the bowl, but it's up to you)
1 (8 ounce) container of sour cream
1 (9 inch) angel food cake
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
3 kiwis, peeled and sliced
1 package of strawberries
1 box of blueberries
3 bananas
1 can of crushed and drained pineapple

  1. In a medium bowl, fold sour cream and unprepared pudding mix into the whipped topping.
  2. Cut the cake into thirds, horizontally.
  3. Line a large trifle or other glass serving bowl with kiwi and strawberry slices, reserving two whole strawberries and two kiwi slices. Place one layer of cake in bottom of bowl, top with 1/3 of bananas and pineapple, and 1/3 of whipped topping mixture. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.
  4. Make fan garnishes of whole strawberries by slicing from just below the stem. Garnish assembled trifle with fanned strawberries, reserved kiwi slices, and blueberries. Refrigerate until serving.

Guest Post Numero Dos (Jackie)

So excited to be guest posting here on Kate's blog today! My name is Jackie and I blog over at Jackie Jade.

On my blog I mainly talk about updating/decorating our house and what is inspiring me. I also blog about my life, including fashion, some recipes, planning my wedding and a million photos of my little pugs. I hope you will come check out my blog!

I wanted to share a recent project that I posted on my blog and that I am loving. I was tired of my boring old iphone case and decided it needed to sparkle.

I just used some craft glue and a bunch of rhinestones in different colors and sizes. It was definitely time consuming, but I really love how it turned out.

I applied rows of craft glue and then carefully applied the rhinestones randomly. The glue comes out white, but dries clear. In progress photo -

And the final product! Love the sparkle in my life.

Go to my blog here to see more on this diy and how I did it.

Hope you will come visit me at Jackie Jade to read more from me! Thanks for Kate for allowing me to guest post today!

Workout Challenge: Operation Bikini Bod

Okay, so you all have seen my pictures and are probably wondering why on earth I am going to say what I am about to say...but, keep in mind that I LOVE food and I am pretty confident with the way I look...for the most part. (obviously everyone has their insecurities) I just have some parts of my body that need toning and I want to be back to the weight I was at when I was a freshman (before I started taking birth control for my irregular periods)

Okay, so in order to lose somewhere between 8-10 lbs and tone my legs, lower back, abs, shoulders, and my arms...I have come up with a routine. This routine is a combination routine so you can rotate any strength training exercises you prefer with any cardio routines you prefer.

Arms (8 minutes for 4 to 5 days a week)

Pick 4 routines of your choice, that specifically focus on your arms. I am going to use workouts from an article in Fitness magazine.
Focus on doing 30 seconds on each arm for each routine, in between each routine pick a cardio routine of your choice and go all out for 30 seconds (aka a cardio blast)

Here are a couple exercises that I am going to use for my routine, you are welcome to use these:

1) Seagull: plank position and raise arms like you have wings (hold for 5 seconds and go back down)...repeat for 30 seconds
( 30 second cardio blast)
2) Ferris Wheel: stand with feet hip lengths apart and hold a heavy book like picture below...bending towards face and back down towards the hips and thighs for 30 seconds
(30 second cardio blast)
3)Caterpillar: squat with hands between legs and work up into a plank position (go back and forth for 30 seconds)
(30 second cardio blast)
4)Drop Back: Sit with hand behind with hands facing away. lift your butt off the floor with lengths planted. Once you're in this position lift your right leg straight up with a flexed foot. Keep your foot up and move your butt from the floor back up off the floor for 30 seconds. Repeat on left side
(30 second cardio blast)

The Rest of The Body (24 reps for each exercise for 4 to 5 days a week)

Because I am not in the best shape right now, I am picking four out of the six exercises that fitness magazine provided for me. Once I am in better shape, I'll do all six. Again, you can do whatever you prefer. I just don't want to overwork myself.

Cardio ( 2-3 days a week on the off days that you don't practice training routines)

I am only going to do 30 minutes of cardio for 2-3 days...so no more than an hour and a half.
Again, you can do whatever you prefer.

Healthy Eating (every single day)

A very important part of toning your body and losing weight is treating your body right...that means eating well. I don't like to over do myself with gross organic, whole grain food, but I do try to pick certain foods that I know will help fill me up without the overwhelming amount of calories.

Grilled chicken is my best friend. I can make a sandwich with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, a slice of cheese and some grilled chicken. I can also make a grilled chicken salad. A good rule of thumb is to make your salads with spinach and leafy greens, not romaine or iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuce especially is basically all water..there are no vitamins or beneficial nutrients...thus it doesn't give you the nutrients your body needs to burn fat and tone your muscle.

Another thing I try to do is eat very colorful food. The more colorful your meal...the more healthy it is. Well, with vegetables that is. lol So add some red peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, Brussel sprouts. Food like that.

Also, remember to drink lots of water...it's important for maintaining a controlled appetite. Try to drink an entire glass of water before you eat a meal. See what happens! It works, I swear.

That's all folks! :)

I just started this workout routine..so if you have any tips or tricks, please let me know.
I hope to keep you all updated on how it's working for me...and maybe even a before and after...I'll be checking my weight next month...to see how much I have lost...and hopefully i'll see the toning at work.

Random Wednesday---Young Love and all that comes with it

I have been thinking about what I should write for probably days now...

P.S.Thank you to everyone who gave me some good tips and inspirational words. It was very much appreciated. I can't tell you how encouraging it is to me, to have people like you all in my life who are willing to take time out of your life to say something to me.

Okay, Okay...back on topic...so as all of you know, John and I have been dating for basically the entire time we've been adults...and then some. In other words, I can honestly say that for as long as I have been mature enough to be in a mature relationship, I have been in one. I was 17 (the age my little sister is  now) when John and I started dating. (Crazy to think about now) And let me tell you, we got very serious, very fast. && By that I don't mean we moved in together or that we had sex. In fact, we didn't even kiss until we were dating for about 6  months. (i know. that's crazy nowadays, but it was something I felt very deeply about and I didn't want to kiss him until I felt like I was ready) I mean that we fell for each other very fast. I told him EVERYTHING and he told me everything. & Because of the way my parents were (I can dedicate another blog post to this one entirely), we were unable to see each other very often and that meant we had a lot of time to talk (via email, facebook,  texting, AIM, phone, etc.). We found every opportunity to talk to each other and both of us quickly realized that we would be in eachother's lives for a very long time. From the time I have been 17 years old, I have become closer and closer to my best friend. He is a huge blessing in my life and i couldn't think of being with anyone else. However, with young love, also comes some drawbacks.

One of the biggest drawbacks, I personally struggle with, is feeling  like you're 30 years old when you are 20 years old. I don't know if this is just a problem with me or if this is something other's can relate to, but TRUST ME, it isn't a good feeling. I'm going to try to explain this in the best way I know how. At this stage in their relationship, 3 years, my parents were married and had 2 children. In other words, I feel like because of our age and our stage in life it is unacceptable to be that serious, granted I don't want to be married with 2 children. I feel like we are very serious and that we know each other very well and that isn't something many young people our age feel. For goodness sakes, if everything goes the way I think it will, I will be with John my whole life, from the age of 17 years old. It's CRAZY.  So it's hard to relate to people my age when I more relate to those who are married or who are getting married soon. My friends are all just now getting into relationships, and here we are..."The Old Married Couple". It's a role I never thought i would play and it's definitely so difficult at times.

Another drawback is that we have slowly come out of the honeymoon stage and are at the point where we are so comfortable with each other that we're almost too much ourselves. haha Again...Old Married Couple status again has been reached. While all my friends are enjoying the new, fresh aroma of love...I am having a comfortable, married feeling. Sometimes I need the spontaneity we used to have and I long for feeling the way I did when we first started dating. It's unrealistic that it would stay that way forever, i know, but again...I'M 20!

SOOOOO....guess what I did about that? I decided that I was going to make our relationship feel different and spontaneous because you know,  after being with someone for 3+ years, you kinda need a bit of different in your life. So now I try to text happy, positive, reaffirming things to John as much as I can. I have started to cook and bring him and his roommates food, which let me tell you ladies...WORKS WONDERS...I try to plan at least one night a week where we have a date like we used to. And I try to listen and share like we used to when we hadn't even kissed yet. All of those things, although not completely like it used to be, helps both of us to appreciate eachother and to appreciate the position God has put us in. After all, he planned this a long time ago...so who am I to question it. Nothing in life is easy...and no matter what age you are, you're always going to feel a little different  than everyone else. Embrace the life you have and try your best to improve it to make  you happy. You'd be surprised how easy it is.

Update on my life: Not that anyone cares...? haha

Okay. I am the worst blogger ever. I need to start updating more often...I think I post maybe every 2 weeks. And honestly, I can say it is because I am a busy college student, but I'd be lying because I find time for everything else I want to do. haha I just lack motivation and inspiration. I know. Why did I even start this blog? Well...I thought I could do it..and that maybe some people out there could relate to my life...and in all honesty, I found that. I find happiness in reading about other people's lives that I can relate to. Call me crazy but I get a little thrill from reading about all of you! And I hope you get a thrill from reading mine..not that it's that great but I still hope there's at least one of you that opens up my blog and is like.."When is she going to post again!!!?!?!" Okay so I said I suck at this because I lack MOTIVATION. So will you all please be my motivation? Can you give me some ideas of what to write on here? Would you be interested in seeing some Bachelor recaps? Rants on my life? Beauty hauls? what??! tell me please please! lol

Okay...so I am in class and probs should pay attention.

peace out girl scouts
